Intel crafts faster mobile processors to please Apple

Intel told investors Thursday that it has extensive plans to release new processors for smartphones and other mobile devices over the next two years, particularly to meet the requirements of Apple. While Apple uses Intel processors in its Mac desktops and MacBook laptops, it designs its own ARM-based processors for the iPad and iPhone. Intel plans to ensure that "our silicon is so compelling" in terms of "running the Mac better or being a better iPad device, that as they make those decisions they can't ignore us," CEO Paul Otellini said.
