Losses from citrus greening peak this year

Citrus greening, a bacterial disease with no cure, has infected all 32 of Florida's citrus-growing counties, causing the U.S. Department of Agriculture to drop its crop estimates five months in a row. So far, orange production has dropped 10% from original estimates. "If we don't find a cure, it will eliminate the citrus industry," said Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Fla., who played a role in securing $11 million in federal money for research of the disease.
