Mobile video is booming now, but may remain a niche platform

Mobile video will draw ad revenues worth almost $2.7 billion in 2017, an increase from about $518 million this year, according to an eMarketer report. That will account for about a quarter of all online video ad spending, but will still represent less than 10% of total mobile ad revenues. "[I]t's shortsighted to assume that this year's triple-digit growth means mobile video is becoming the dominant video ad format," eMarketer adds.
