Sparks fly at collapse building codes meeting

Tempers flared at a recent gathering on progressive collapse building codes convened by the National Institute of Building Sciences' Multihazard Mitigation Council. An official with the International Code Council said building codes allow construction of a "house of cards," but representatives of steel, concrete and other groups denied the charges and defended their standards.
