U.S. government officials, American International Group executives and market participants had hoped that the insurer's turnaround would be quick. An AIG memo, however, shows that its executives and government owners are expecting the restructuring to take some time. Called Project Destiny, the initiative includes a 45-day review of the company's businesses. From there, AIG executives plan to outline a multiyear plan for getting the company back on its feet.
