Airline to ease up on rules for using frequent-flier miles

American Airlines is planning to announce a loosening of its rules for using frequent-flier miles. For example, the carrier will allow passengers to book one-way flights for half the number of miles needed for a round-trip flight. "I think more customers will claim more awards," said Rob Friedman, president of marketing for AAdvantage, American's frequent-flier program. "I think there will be more spontaneous kinds of trips."
