Expanded proposal for 2010 federal budget prioritizes health IT

The Obama administration has released an expanded version of its fiscal 2010 budget that allocates $108 million to support the HHS' health IT initiatives. The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality and rural hospitals are among those expected to benefit from the funding. Such an investment pushes forward efforts to overhaul health care by safeguarding public health as well as averting abuse and fraud, HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said.
