Feds: Global warming not a consideration under Endangered Species Act

The Obama administration said Friday that the Endangered Species Act cannot be used to keep greenhouse gases from threatening polar bears' Arctic habitat. "It would be very difficult for our scientists to be doing evaluations of a cement plant in Georgia or Florida and [know the effect] it's going to have on the polar bear habitat," said Interior Secretary Ken Salazar. "I just don't think the Endangered Species Act was ever set up with that contemplation in mind."
