Guidelines cover glucose control of hospitalized patients

Clinical guidelines on treating noncritical and critically ill hospitalized patients with high blood glucose levels have been issued by the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists and the American Diabetes Association. The research team said the preferred method to achieve and maintain glucose control is intravenous insulin infusions for critically ill patients and scheduled subcutaneous administration of insulin for noncritical patients.
