International elements add dangerous layer to Pakistan woes

International al-Qaida operatives are using Pakistan's domestic turmoil as an opportunity to recruit fighters, foment chaos and strengthen extremist elements, Pakistani and American intelligence officials say. Assessments conclude the Pakistani military is too strong to be defeated by militant groups but that "mini-Afghanistans" in the country under militant control could pose massive security risks.
