Oil executives polish arguments in energy debate

Industry advocates are following the past week's Offshore Technology Conference with fresh calls for cooperation to raise awareness about the importance of continued investment in U.S. oil and natural gas, saying that renewable energy is insufficient to meet consumer demand. American Petroleum Institute CEO Jack Gerard said record-high gas prices in 2008 drew attention to the need for an energy policy based on traditional sources.
