Telus cites economy in lowering 2009 forecast

Canada's Telus cut its full-year sales and earnings guidance Friday, citing the worsening recession's effects, particularly on its wireline business. The telecom reported slightly higher revenue for the first quarter, mainly because of a 3% gain in wireless sales and 6% increase in wireline data, although the company's wireless additions tumbled nearly 50% from a year earlier amid lower average-revenue-per-user figures.
