The recession has brought a huge spike in the productivity of U.S. workers -- but that's not necessarily good news, writes Tony Schwartz. By burning the candle at both ends, companies and workers necessarily take shortcuts that affect their products' quality and safety, Schwartz argues. "Instead, the ethic of more, bigger, faster ultimately generates value that is narrow, shallow and short-term," he says.
