Army Corps of Engineers defends controlled release from Tenn. dam

The Army Corps of Engineers defended its decision to release water from Old Hickory Dam, which lies upstream of Nashville, Tenn., during the city's recent flood. The Corps said the controlled release in early May prevented further flooding. Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., has requested a hearing on how well the Corps and other agencies communicated their plans during the flooding.
