ASDA COO wins promotion to CEO post

ASDA Chief Operating Officer Andy Clarke has been promoted to CEO and president of the company, which is owned by Wal-Mart. Clarke's promotion comes after CEO Andy Bond decided to become part-time chairman of the company and Darren Blackhurst, seen as a possible candidate for the position, left the retailer. "We have a robust succession planning and talent development process and Andy Clarke has long been identified as a leader," said Doug McMillon, CEO of Wal-Mart International. "He is the ideal person for the job."
