British pound weakens as Labor, Liberal Democrats talk coalition

The British pound dropped against the U.S. dollar after U.K. Prime Minister Gordon Brown said he is resigning as leader of the Labor Party but remaining as prime minister to guide what could become a coalition government, bringing together the ruling Labor Party with the Liberal Democrats, led by Nick Clegg. Meanwhile, the euro gained on the currency market.
