Construction unemployment still more than double all-sector average

Federal stimulus funds have helped nudge the construction industry toward recovery, but unemployment in the sector remains high -- 21.8%, or more than double the national average for all sectors, according to the Associated General Contractors. Some states have it even worse. Construction unemployment in New Jersey stands at about 30%. Tight credit conditions continue to constrain the building industry.
