Group seeks government support for better antibiotic development

The Infectious Diseases Society of America met with Rep. Jim Matheson, D-Utah, to urge the government to simplify the regulatory process for antibiotics and provide better incentives for drugmakers to encourage the development of better anti-microbial medicines. The group gave its support for Matheson's Strategies to Address Antimicrobial Resistance Act, which would help gather data related to antibiotic resistance and create projects to curb misuse of such treatments.
