Nuts may reduce cholesterol

Study participants who ate 2.3 ounces of nuts daily reduced their total cholesterol levels 5.1% and cut LDL cholesterol by 7.4%. The research provides "the best evidence yet that eating nuts reduces LDL cholesterol and improves the blood lipids profile," said its co-author, who cautioned that nuts are highly caloric and can lead to obesity.
