A Voit Real Estate Services report finds San Diego-area retail real estate will remain soft in the near term -- but that there are signs that the second and third quarters will bring improvement. Vacancy rates are still high and space absorption remains negative, and such fundamentals are likely to remain lackluster for the rest of the year. But, says Mark Caston, a Voit vice president in San Diego, "[t]enants are at least looking toward the horizon. It's a lot different from a year ago, when nobody was looking."
