House panel OKs pet-scan bill in Illinois

An Illinois House panel has cleared a bill meant to help bring lost pets back to their owners. Under the measure, animal-control facilities in the state would be required to do pet microchip scans two times and carry out other methods to identify lost pets within a period of 24 hours after the animals are impounded.
