Trade-deficit surge raises doubt about U.S. growth, analysts say

A sharp increase in the U.S. trade deficit in March suggests that gross domestic product growth in the first quarter was probably less than the government's 2.2% estimate, analysts said. The Commerce Department said the trade deficit increased to $51.8 billion in March, compared with February's $45.4 billion.
