EU regulators compromise on food labels

A plan to require that food items achieve a certain "nutritional profile" to be able to use labels including "light," or "low-fat" has been softened. A compromise, sought by the food industry, will allow manufacturers to use those labels as long as the package also includes information about the other nutritional aspects of the product. Certain candy, for example, could still be labeled as "fat-free" as long as the label also informs the consumer it is still high in sugar.
