British university to cultivate biotech potatoes

The British Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs has given the University of Leeds permission to cultivate biotech potatoes resistant to roundworms. An agency spokesman noted that the approval includes "precautionary conditions" to ensure that the biotech crop "does not persist at the trial site" since it will not be used for food or livestock feed.
