Small biopharmaceutical and medical device firms in South Florida are making steady progress despite lengthy clinical trials, distance from venture capital firms and other major challenges. Companies, including Vicor Technologies and Converge Biotech, believe that venture capitalists will be more open to investing in the region once they get a glimpse of promising projects being developed by Scripps Florida and other institutes.
