MySpace, Facebook and Google's separate plans to open up the social-networking space to third-party applications could signal a shift in which users will have the ability to tap the entire Web for social-networking purposes, instead of having to access individual sites, according to this article. "I believe that in the future, social networks will be like air," said Forrester's Charlene Li. "They will be anywhere and everywhere we need and want them to be."
