401(k) enrollment mandate left out of budget plan

President Barack Obama's budget proposal doesn't mandate automatic enrollment of participants in existing 401(k) plans, a move that benefits employers, said Ed Ferrigno, vice president of the Profit Sharing/401(k) Council of America. The Treasury Department did not explain why the provision was omitted, he said.
