Hospitals open up walk-in clinics in retail shops, malls

Hospitals competing for business with walk-in retail clinics are setting up similar outlets in stores and shopping malls to provide low-cost, accessible primary care services. Hospital clinics, usually staffed by a nurse practitioner, are now found in more than 25 Wal-Marts; the Cleveland Clinic has teamed up with CVS drugstores in northeastern Ohio; and the Mayo Clinic is running an Express Care clinic in a Rochester, Minn., mall.
