Investment banks try to build on Q1 momentum

Investment banks had a big first quarter, but maintaining that momentum may prove difficult moving forward. In the U.S., JPMorgan Chase and Goldman Sachs appeared most likely to continue to outperform even if volumes slide. Some of the gains come from increased market share after the high-profile collapses of Bear Stearns and Lehman Bros.
