Congress urged to support ethanol in light of massive oil spill

The Gulf of Mexico oil spill is "merely the latest, most visible example of how many problems we have been willing to ignore while we continue to feed our addiction" to oil, according to this column by Brian Jennings, an executive at the American Coalition for Ethanol. Congress should recognize that ethanol is the most affordable and viable alternative to oil, Jennings writes. He argues that Congress should extend tax incentives for corn-based and cellulosic ethanol, approve E15 for use in all cars and enact legislation to promote flexible-fuel vehicles and blender pumps.
