3 states consider bills to ban providers from asking about guns

The AAP believes that pediatricians should ask parents about guns in their homes so they can counsel them about safety. However, Florida, Alabama and North Carolina have pending legislation that would prohibit and penalize providers for asking about gun ownership. One constitutional law expert says such a prohibition likely is unconstitutional.
