District wants Colo. to mandate training for educators to teach ELLs

English-language learners are the fastest-growing population of students in Colorado's public schools, and education and political leaders now are focused on preparing teachers to handle their unique needs. In Denver, some school officials say universities should alter their courses to include ELL instruction, providing a greater pool of teachers who are qualified to teach English-language learners.
