Reading tutor program spreading in Mich. communities

05/12/2013 | Jackson Citizen Patriot (Mich.)

The program, which takes a three-prong approach in literacy education to help students reach proficiency by third grade, trains volunteers to work with students one-on-one for 30 minutes at least once a week in a special "literacy lounge." Other components include an after-school program and information for parents to enhance literacy at home.
