Mozilla clarifies new-tab sponsor plan for Firefox

Mozilla has clarified its plans to add sponsored tile content to new tabs in the Firefox browser. Mozilla will not inundate users with ad logos and will provide relevant, helpful content, according to Vice President Johnathan Nightingale. The sponsored content could help diversify Mozilla's earnings and reduce its dependency on payments from Google for driving traffic to the search engine, writes Stephen Shankland.
