China, Alcoa Compete For Vietnamese Bauxite, Alumina Project

China reportedly is sending its foreign trade minister to Hanoi, Vietnam, to discuss a proposed $800 million bauxite and alumina project in that country. The project would include construction of a $400 million railway to ship the product from the proposed plant. Reports say U.S.-based Alcoa also is interested in pursuing the job.
