Capitol Hill may get into Nielsen brouhaha

Some lawmakers on the House Commerce Committee are calling for a congressional investigation into the accuracy of data derived from Nielsen Media Research's new Local People Meter. Nielsen has come under increasing pressure to justify LPM data, which critics say undercounts minorities. Nielsen has maintained that the system actually delivers more accurate data, and noted this week that numbers show blacks and Hispanics are watching more cable TV than broadcast.
