Childhood obesity problem expanding to global proportions

Obesity problem in children is becoming a worldwide condition, with as many as 10% of children, or 155 million youths worldwide, meeting standards of being overweight or obese, say health officials. The problem is most severe in the U.S., where about 10% of children are obese and 30% more are overweight, but the figures are increasing in Europe, the Middle East and the Asia/Pacific, according to a report from the London-based Obesity Task Force, and the authors call for "urgent action."
