Research: B vitamins valuable in preventing osteoporosis fractures

Folate and vitamin B may play an important role in preventing the broken bones that can result from osteoporosis, two new studies say. The vitamins are well established as beneficial in preventing severe birth defects and heart attacks, and the new research shows high levels of a key amino acid that B vitamins work to reduce -- homocysteine -- can double the risk for osteoporosis-related fractures.
