Integrated arts help schools engage students

A Florida pilot program is helping elementary classroom teachers integrate the arts into their instruction on a range of subject matters. "We're not trying to make them art teachers," said Mary Palmer, former dean of the University of Central Florida's education college. "But what I've seen is that teachers get re-invigorated, and the arts level the playing field for the children."
