Lockheed favored for GPS satellite contract

Lockheed Martin Corp. is said to be the favorite to win a $1.8 billion Air Force contract to build the first eight Block A global positioning satellites. Boeing Corp. was also in the running for the contract, which could be awarded as early as Tuesday, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal. Neither Lockheed nor Boeing was available for comment.
