No backlash after GOP lawmaker's marriage vote

Republican New York state Assemblywoman Teresa R. Sayward has garnered much support for her vote in favor of marriage rights -- and her decision to speak openly about having a gay son -- from her constituents in her conservative upstate district. "We did get some of those very heated phone calls and letters as we expected to get," Sayward said. "But we didn't get as many as you'd think. We got an excellent reception."
