Toro focuses on new markets, green image

At a recent Open House for reporters, The Toro Company said it has spent $60 million on research and development during the past six years, with much of the money aimed at making products and processes more eco-friendly. Already the market leader in golf equipment and irrigation, the company is now focused on growing its share in the sports fields and grounds sector. And despite concerns over greenhouse gases, Toro insists the industry is still green: "Turfgrass is a net carbon positive even factoring in its mowing," said CEO Mike Hoffman.
