Despite hopes, LTE by 2010 looks unlikely

Chipset makers say launching next-generation wireless service based on the Long-Term Evolution standard by 2010 remains a long shot, adding that first-generation LTE processors will be limited to supporting PC-related hardware. Verizon Wireless has detailed plans to begin rolling out LTE service next year.
