Report: Rise in pay-per-click ads leads to increase in click fraud

The economic downturn spurred many marketers to focus resources on pay-per-click keyword ads because they are seen as measurable and cost-effective. Research firm Click Forensics, which tracks click fraud for many leading online advertisers, says click fraud is on the rise, reporting 17% of ad clicks in the fourth quarter of 2008 were fraudulent.
