DOT to convene aviation advisory council

Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood on Wednesday announced a new federal advisory panel on aviation issues, including safety, regulation and competitiveness. "This committee, which represents a broad cross-section of the aviation community, will begin the important conversation about how to ensure the industry remains vital and competitive," LaHood said. Among the panel members announced Wednesday: Glenn Tilton of United Airlines, David Barger of JetBlue Airways, Jack Pelton of Cessna and Nicole Piasecki of Boeing Commercial Airplanes. Unions, airports, suppliers and academics also are represented on the panel.
