Toronto encourages energy retrofit of apartment towers

Toronto has unveiled an energy-efficiency program that targets high-rises built in the 1960s and 1970s. The Tower Renewal Program encourages owners of apartment towers to retrofit their buildings. "These buildings are essentially middle-aged energy hogs in need of big investment and repair," said Brian Shedden, a senior project manager with GRG Building Consultants.
