Retailers post 10th consecutive month of higher sales

U.S. retail sales rose 0.5% in April, the 10th straight monthly increase, the Commerce Department said. Food and gasoline accounted for much of the increase, but not all of it. With gasoline taken out of the calculation, spending increased 0.2%.
