Teachers at two English schools strike over academies plans

Teachers at two schools in England have gone on strike, saying a plan to convert the schools to academies threatens their employment. School officials say the teachers have been consulted about the transition, but teachers disagree. "If these changes take place, our members' pay and conditions will be under threat as governors have failed to give any guarantees," said Jane Nellist, joint secretary of the Coventry Association of the National Union of Teachers.
