Carbon levels soar past key milestone

Atmospheric carbon has reached an average daily level in excess of 400 parts per million -- a key milestone that scientists say brings carbon levels to a mark not seen for at least 3 million years. "It means we are quickly losing the possibility of keeping the climate below what people thought were possibly tolerable thresholds," says Ralph Keeling of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography.
