CDC: West Nile virus deaths in 2012 the highest on record

A CDC report said that the final count for West Nile virus-related deaths in the U.S. in 2012 was 286, two more than the previous high in 2002. The number of cases reached 5,674, the most since 2003. Texas reported about a third of both the serious cases and the deaths.
